Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
My visit to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park or KL Bird Park was incredibly enjoyable. It is located in Kuala Lumpur’s well-known Lake Gardens, only a 10 minute drive away from the Kuala Lumpur city center. What’s so special about KL Bird Park?
It is the world’s largest free-flight walk-in aviary. This is the main feature distinguishing KL Bird Park from any other bird park in the world. When you enter, it is as if you are stepping into an ENORMOUS bird cage. You will find birds of all kinds flying in free flight overhead, some walking beside you, others feeding contentedly in close proximity to you etc. Amazing!
KL Bird Park encompasses a sprawling 21 acres and is divided into 4 zones and is home to over 3,000 birds of 200 local and foreign bird species. Besides the birds on display, the main attractions include a Bird Show in the Amphitheater, watching the birds feed (especially interesting are the birds of prey), getting to feed some of the birds yourself (you can feed the Lorries), having your picture taken with the birds (they perch ON your arms, shoulders or even head), holding live chicks in the Egg Incubation room and lots more.
Here are some photos…
